So it says this in the documentation
In DSS-G, the recommendation is to share the IPMI and administrative
LAN interfaces on the same Ethernet port of the DSS server, rather than
using the dedicated network connector of the XCC for IPMI.
The question is what is the reasoning behind this? I want that
management interface strictly separated from my "normal" network. What
is the value of having it "shared" rather than separate? Noting that we
have never used the OCP/LOM card on our DSS-G servers for anything other
than provisioning and then immediately unconfigured then and relied on
the "HPC" network for everything.
Unhelpfully the servers have come configured from Lenovo in dedicated
mode and I cannot see anything in the XCC to change it. Does it require
booting into BIOS setup to change?
JAB.
