<div class="socmaildefaultfont" dir="ltr" style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:12pt" ><div dir="ltr" >Jonathan the "objects inspected" refers to the number of file system objects that matched the policy rules used for the backup.&nbsp; These rules are influenced by TSM server and client settings, e.g. the dsm.sys file.&nbsp; So not all objects in the file system are actually inspected.</div>
<div dir="ltr" >&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr" >As for tuning I think the mmbackup man page is the place to start, and I think it is thorough in its description of the tuning options.&nbsp; You may also want to look at the mmapplypolicy man page since mmbackup invokes it to scan the file system for files that need to be backed up.</div>
<div dir="ltr" >&nbsp;</div>
<div dir="ltr" >To my knowledge there are no options to place the shadow database file in another location than the GPFS file system.&nbsp; If the file system has fast storage I see no reason why you could not use a placement policy rule to place the shadow database on that fast storage.&nbsp; However, I think using more than one node for your backups, and adjusting the various threads used by mmbackup will provide you with sufficient performance improvements.</div>
